Puffco New Peak Pro 3DXL Review: Is It Worth It?

The Puffco Peak Pro 3DXL is the current version of Puffco's flagship e-rig, and it's a real step up from the original Peak Pro it replaced. The biggest change is the chamber itself: the 3DXL bowl is about 78% larger than the original, which means bigger sessions and noticeably denser vapor without sacrificing the flavor Puffco is known for.

The 3DXL is built for dabbers who already know they want full control: custom heat profiles, app-based temperature adjustment, and enough chamber capacity for real sessions rather than quick hits. The 3DXL keeps Puffco's signature look with a matte finish that resists fingerprints and holds up better to daily handling than a glossy surface would. The glass bubbler itself is more tapered and slightly longer than the original Peak Pro's, which lets it hold more water without splashing back into your mouth on a strong pull, a small change that makes a real difference session to session.

One thing worth knowing if you already own Peak Pro glass: the 3DXL chamber is backward compatible with original Peak glass attachments, so you're not forced to replace everything at once if you're upgrading.

Charge the device fully before your first session. From there:

1. Fill the glass attachment with water, just above the air holes, and seat it into the base.
2. Load your concentrate into the 3DXL chamber.
3. Hold the main button to power the device on.
4. Single-click to cycle through the four heat settings.
5. Double-click to start the heating cycle. The device will vibrate and the light will stop pulsing once it's ready.
6. Inhale through the glass, using the Joystick Cap to guide airflow through the chamber as you draw.

Four built-in presets cover most sessions:

• Blue: Low
• Green: Medium
• Red: High
• White: Peak

Lower settings preserve more flavor with thinner vapor. Higher settings produce thicker, denser vapor at some cost to flavor. If you want more precision than the four presets allow, the Puffco Connect app adds one-degree temperature control and lets you save your own custom presets, on top of a real-time temperature readout during the session.

This is where the 3DXL chamber earns its reputation. The larger bowl and side-heating design spread heat more evenly than a single bottom heat source would, which cuts down on hot spots and keeps flavor consistent from the first pull to the last. The Joystick Cap adds directional airflow control, letting you actively move vapor through the chamber rather than just drawing straight through.

Lower temperatures give you the most flavor. Push toward the top of the range and you'll get noticeably more vapor, with some tradeoff in smoothness, still very usable, just a different kind of hit.

Expect around 40 sessions per charge, a real jump from the original Peak Pro. Charging runs through USB-C and takes about 2 hours for a full charge. The 3DXL also supports wireless charging through Puffco's optional Power Dock, and an auto-sleep feature powers the device down after a few minutes of inactivity to save battery when you're not actively using it.

The Puffco Connect app is where the 3DXL's customization really opens up: precise one-degree temperature control, custom saved presets, and a real-time readout of exactly what temperature the chamber is holding. You don't need the app to use the device, the four built-in presets work fine on their own, but if you want to fine-tune every session, this is the reason to use it.

The larger 3DXL chamber actually cuts down on how often you need to clean, since there's more room before reclaim builds up enough to affect flavor. When it's time for a deeper clean, soak the chamber in a proper cleaning solution and wipe the glass down with isopropyl alcohol before rinsing thoroughly. E-rigs in general aren't built for constant travel, and the 3DXL is no exception, it's a home-base device first. That said, it ships with a magnetic carry case that snaps shut securely and doesn't scream "vaporizer" if you do need to bring it somewhere.
