The Storz & Bickel Venty is one of the best portable vaporizers we've ever used. After plenty of hands-on time, it's easy to see why so many people call it the new standard for portable dry herb vaping. It heats up in about 20 seconds, the airflow is wide open and adjustable, and the vapor is everything you'd expect from Storz & Bickel. If you're ready to buy, you can shop the Venty here.
It isn't perfect. It's taller than most portables and it's one of the pricier options on the market. But if you want big clouds, great flavor and a device that works no matter how you hit it, the Venty comes very close to being the one vaporizer we'd recommend to almost anyone.
Temperature
The Venty lets you set any temperature from 104°F to 410°F (40°C to 210°C) in single-degree steps using the + and – buttons. Pressing both at the same time switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius.
It also has Boost and Superboost for quick temperature jumps. Double-press the power button once to raise the heat by 27°F (from 356°F to 383°F), and double-press again to jump to 410°F. After 90 seconds, it drops back to your base temperature.
We use Boost and Superboost all the time, but we'd prefer the Venty to stay at those temperatures until we change them. The good news is you can adjust how much each boost adds, and change the timeout, in the Storz & Bickel web app.

Vapor Performance
Whether you like slow sips or big pulls, the Venty delivers rich, flavorful vapor that's consistently strong. Like the Mighty+ and Crafty+, it produces dense, tasty clouds from the first draw. What sets it apart is the airflow.
The Venty moves up to 20 litres of air per minute, roughly double the Mighty+. A dial just below the mouthpiece lets you adjust it anywhere from a tight, restricted pull to a wide-open, lung-filling hit. Going back to the Mighty+ after the Venty, the Mighty+ draw feels tight by comparison.
The Venty also adjusts itself to how you draw. A built-in sensor tracks your draw speed and boosts power when you pull harder, keeping the vapor thick and consistent. You don't need any special technique to get a great hit.
If you already own a Mighty+ or Crafty+, the vapor quality itself won't feel like a huge leap. The airflow is the real upgrade, and for many people it's worth it on its own.

How to Use
The Venty is simple to use. Press the power button once to turn it on, set your temperature and wait for it to heat up. The screen glows orange while heating, turns green when it's ready and vibrates to let you know. It usually reaches temperature in about 20 seconds.
Our go-to session:
- Grind your herb to a medium to coarse consistency.
- Loosely fill the chamber, about 0.2g. Don't pack it down.
- Attach the cooling unit and power on.
- Start at the default 356°F (180°C) and draw when the screen turns green.
- When flavor fades, double-press for Boost (383°F).
- A few hits later, double-press again for Superboost (410°F).
- Power off, empty the chamber and brush the screen.
The chamber works best with loads under about 0.25g, and it's also compatible with Storz & Bickel dosing capsules, although they restrict airflow a lot. The Venty is designed for dry herb only, and we don't recommend using concentrates in it.
Build Quality and What's in the Box
The Venty feels great in the hand. The industrial styling gives it a serious, well-built look, and the slightly tapered lower half fits naturally in your grip. The weight feels just right.
The body is plastic, which some people won't love, but it stays cool during use and doesn't affect vapor quality. It's built by Storz & Bickel in Germany to the same standards as their medical devices, and it carries UL electrical safety certification.
The cooling unit twists off the top to reveal the chamber. It's well thought out, with extra screens to catch fine particles and a longer vapor path to cool each hit. It looks similar to the Mighty+ and Crafty+ cooling units, but they aren't interchangeable.
In the box: Venty vaporizer, USB-C cable, cleaning brush, 2 O-rings, filling chamber tool, 5 screens and 2 cooling unit screens.
Size and Everyday Use
The Venty is 6.18" tall, 2.17" wide and 1.46" deep, and it weighs 252g. It's taller than the Mighty+, but it's also narrower, so it actually feels smaller in the hand than it looks.
It won't fit in tight jeans, but it slips easily into the pocket of sweatpants, shorts or a jacket. With its long battery life, it's easy to toss in a bag with some herb and be set for a weekend away.
Want to protect it on the go? The Storz & Bickel Venty Case is a good fit. If you want something noticeably smaller, the Crafty+ is the better choice.
Battery and Charging Performance
Battery life is excellent. You can expect around a dozen bowls on a full charge, often enough for a couple of days of regular use. Your results will depend on your temperatures and how long you draw.
We also like how it handles shutoff. Instead of a fixed session timer that cuts you off mid-session, the Venty watches for activity and powers down after a couple of minutes of inactivity. The battery meter is also accurate, which is rare.
The Venty charges over USB-C. With a 15V/3A charger, sold separately, it reaches 80% in about 40 minutes. Fast charging does add wear over time, so the web app lets you slow the charge rate and cap charging at 90% to help your battery last longer.
Daily Use and Cleaning
The web app isn't required, but it's a nice bonus. It works in a browser on iPhone, Android and computers. You can adjust your Boost and Superboost settings, turn vibration on or off, change screen brightness, protect battery health, update firmware and more.
For a powerful vaporizer, the Venty is surprisingly easy to clean:
- Empty the chamber right after each session so herb doesn't stick.
- Brush the chamber and screen while the device is warm, not hot.
- Take the cooling unit apart regularly and clean it with isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs.
A spare Venty Cooling Unit (Pack of 3) lets you keep going while one is soaking, and the Venty Wear & Tear Set replaces the parts that wear out most.
Smell and Stealth
Vapor smells far less than smoke and clears quickly, but a big cloud from the Venty will still leave some aroma in a small room. Keeping the temperature lower helps reduce both smell and visible vapor.
The Venty isn't the most discreet portable because of its size. That said, you can dim the screen and turn off vibration in the web app for quieter, lower-key sessions.
The One Design Flaw We Noticed
When the cooling unit is fully tightened, it sits slightly out of line with the body of the device. It doesn't affect performance at all, and every Venty we've handled has had the same small skew. It's a minor detail, but on a device at this price, we expected a perfect fit.
Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Venty?
The "Mighty killer" everyone was waiting for came from the Mighty's own maker. The Venty is the best Storz & Bickel portable we've used. It combines a 20-second heat up, wide-open adjustable airflow and consistent, top-tier vapor, and it comes surprisingly close to the Volcano Hybrid experience in a portable body.
The Venty is a great fit if you:
- Find tight draws uncomfortable
- Want thick vapor with minimal effort
- Are upgrading from an older portable
- Like fine-tuning your sessions through an app
You might skip it if you:
- Already own a Mighty+ or Crafty+ and don't mind a slower heat up or tighter draw
- Need the smallest possible vaporizer
- Want to spend less
